Hopefully everyone is enjoying their summer activities. The Organization is still
active despite Chapters going dark for the summer. A big Thank You to all the
patriots and friends who participated in Memorial Day
and Flag Day Ceremonies.
In July, we will celebrate our Nation's birthday on the 4th of July. Hopefully we
will have large turnouts at events despite the heat. June 30th was the deadline to
get all reports into National, and it is my understanding that the Department and
its chapters were all compliant with this deadline.
This month I will be representing the Department at the National Convention in New Bern North Carolina from July 12th returning on July 17th. It sounds like it's going to have a large
attendance this year and be very vocal. I joked last year after the Convention in Reno about wearing a flak jacket and steel pot for this upcoming Convention. I still think it might be a good idea. As of this date, I haven't heard of anyone else from our Department attending the convention. If you are planning on attending, please reach out to me or the Department Adjutant. I should have a
report on the Convention by the DEC meeting on July 22nd and for the following newsletter.
The Department is still in need for committee chairmen for, VAVS, Americanism, and Suicide
Awareness, and Homelessness committees. If you have any interest in these committees, please notify
the Department. They are all important programs. Again, the more volunteers we get, the easier it
becomes for everyone already volunteering.
