Purple Heart Combat Wounded Veterans of Arizona (PHCWVOA)

The Charitable Arm of the Military Order of the Purple Heart – Department of Arizona

Who We Are

The Purple Heart Combat Wounded Veterans of Arizona (PHCWVOA) is the official charitable nonprofit organization supporting the Military Order of the Purple Heart’s Department of Arizona. Our mission is to honor the sacrifice of America’s combat-wounded veterans by connecting patriotic donors with programs that directly impact their lives and long-term well-being.  Although we are an organization of combat-wounded members, we help all veterans through our services and programs.  This applies to every level of the Order.

We exist to ensure that no Purple Heart recipient or their family faces hardship alone. Whether it's navigating the transition to civilian life, accessing educational or job opportunities, or overcoming mental and emotional challenges, PHCWVOA stands ready to help.

We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit public charity (EIN 82-1286505).

What We Support

With the generous support of individuals, businesses, and communities across Arizona, we fund impactful, veteran-focused programs statewide. Every donation stays local and is used to support Purple Heart recipients and their families in meaningful, life-changing ways.

🔵 Suicide Awareness & Prevention

Mental health and suicide prevention remain urgent issues in the veteran community. We help fund and promote outreach programs, peer support groups, mental health workshops, and partnerships with local clinics. These efforts are aimed at early intervention and ensuring no veteran suffers in silence.

🔵 Youth Activities & Americanism Programs

We believe patriotism is built early. PHCWVOA supports youth-focused initiatives that teach the value of service, civic duty, and love of country. Through flag retirement ceremonies, school presentations, ROTC and JROTC awards, and youth volunteer opportunities, we promote good citizenship and instill pride in our nation's values.

🔵 Advanced Education Scholarships

We provide scholarships to Purple Heart recipients and their immediate family members pursuing higher education, trade certification, or professional development. These scholarships ease the financial burden and open doors to new opportunities after military service.

🔵 Employment Training & Workforce Support

Transitioning from military to civilian careers can be difficult. PHCWVOA supports job readiness initiatives including resume building, interview training, trade programs, and veteran-focused hiring fairs. Our goal is to help combat-wounded veterans achieve long-term economic stability and success.

🔵 Women Veterans Advocacy

Women veterans face unique challenges, especially those who were wounded in combat. We advocate for access to gender-specific care, support services, and leadership development. Through community partnerships and awareness efforts, we aim to ensure that the voices of our women veterans are heard and respected.

🔵 Veterans Policy Advocacy

PHCWVOA supports advocacy efforts that protect veterans' rights and promote legislation that benefits wounded warriors and their families. We stay actively involved in local and state-level issues affecting healthcare access, disability claims, housing, and more.

Why It Matters

Every program we support is built around one principle: Combat-wounded veterans have already given enough — it’s our duty to give back. Through PHCWVOA, we ensure that help, honor, and hope are available to those who’ve borne the cost of freedom.

Whether you're a donor, partner, or someone seeking support, your involvement helps us continue our mission and expand our impact across Arizona.
